The BrainStem Release 2.8
===============================================================================

The BrainStem 2.8.0 release debuts Acroname’s new MTMLoad1 module. All API's
will be affected in some way; however, they will be most noticeable in statically 
typed languages.  

Deprecations: The following items will be removed in the 2.9.0 release.
* RailClass::setVoltage: Replaced by RailClass::setVoltageSetpoint.

Function Signature Changes:
* PointerClass::setOffset - Widened from uint8_t to uint16_t
* PointerClass::getOffset - Widened from uint8_t to uint16_t
* RailClass::getOperationalState - Widened from uint8_t to uint32_t.  

aProtocolDef.h changes
* cmdRAIL: Most defines were prepended with 'rail' to align with other sections.

RailClass::getOperationalState:
The value returned by this function has changed significantly.  We highly encourage
customers who use this function to review the new bitwise meanings found in
aProtocoldefs.h.

The python file structure was changed slightly. Entity classes were moved from 
stem.py to entity.py. In some cases it may be necessary to import the new
entity.py file.


Release 2.8 and Drivers
===============================================================================

Since release 2.2, BrainStem users no longer need to install drivers on any of our
supported platforms. Windows 7 users will still need to Update the device driver
software for their BrainStem devices, via the BrainStem.inf file that we provide.


Additional Libraries (Linux users only)
===============================================================================

The StemTool distribution for linux now uses the libicu52 library in an effort to
increase legacy support.  Newer versions of Linux (such as Ubuntu 16.04) may require
the installation of this library.  It can be found on Ubuntu's website.

BrainStem Package Folder Structure
===============================================================================

The development directory contains all the files you need to include
when developing an Acroname BrainStem device application. Regardless of the
platform you are running, all you need is to place the BrainStem .so, framework,
or dll in a location your application can find (system runpaths, or project
defined ones). For Mac OS users, the framework includes all of the headers
you will need. Linux and Windows users only need to add the lib folder into
project header search paths.
