OmniPreSense OPS241-B FMCW Radar Sensor

OmniPreSense’s OPS241-B is a complete short-range FMCW (frequency modulated constant wave) radar solution that provides range-reporting for multiple objects in its field of view.  All radar signal processing is done on board and a simple API reports the processed data.  Flexible control over the reporting format and transmit power levels is provided. The OPS241-B module can be connected to any Smart USB host (Raspberry Pi, Android device supporting OTG, PC or Mac) or Arduino using its UART interface to enable a simple IoT sensor.

API Interface Specification

OmniPreSense modules have an easy to use API to control the output of the sensors. The simple commands can be used to configure the operation and output information provided by the sensor. Over time OmniPreSense will enhance the capabilities of its sensors by adding new features and functionality. These will come as new code versions which can be flashed to the board while keeping backwards compatibility.

Radar Sensor Type

OmniPreSense provides two different types of sensors, Doppler radar sensor reporting motion and speed and FMCW radar sensors reporting range. The feature differences for these sensors is shown in Table 1. The following API commands pertain to both types of sensors except for special cases. In these cases, this document will call out the special command for either a Doppler (-A) or FMCW (-B) radar.
