Valens USB Extender provides seamless extension of USB 2.0 data link and power for distances up to 100m over CAT6 ethernet cables. Ideal for conference room and data center where remote USB connections are needed up to 100m away. Connect and power peripherals on the device side at 5V or 12V using the standard USB-C connection or at 12V using the included DC power cable.
System Overview
The EVX6‐USB‐KT‐POE kit extends USB 2 and power over a single standard CATx cable for distances of up to 100 m / 328 ft with data rates up to 480 Mb/s. It is a Plug and Play solution that doesn’t require any driver installation. The kit includes a Host-Side Extender that connects to a Computer via a USB cable and a Device-Side Extender that connects to the remote USB peripheral. The Device-Side Extender provides 5 V at 2 A or 12 V at 2 A to the peripheral device over a USB‐C cable or 12 V at up to 2 A via the optional (included) DC power cable, eliminating the need for outlets near the peripheral.
Compact Enclosure enables Easy Integration
At 97.1 x 62 x 21 mm (device side) and 103 x 52 x 21 mm (host side), the extenders fit into tight spaces. Screw tabs allow simple surface mounting or fastening to a rack shelf. The compact size, ease of mounting, and remote power features make the extender ideal for USB cameras and small peripherals.
A Universal USB and Power Extender
Valens' USB and Power Extender provides USB devices with up to 24 W over USB-C, while other devices can receive 12 V at 2 A via the DC power jack. Take your projects beyond standard USB cable lengths and the limitations of other fixed-length extension solutions. Applications needing cable lengths beyond USB-IF specifications can benefit from a Category 6a cable extension up to 100 m (328 ft), eliminating the need for AC power interfaces near the peripheral.

Connecting your Extender
- Connect the CATx cable from the Host-Side Extender to the Device-Side Extender
- Connect the USB‐C to USB‐C Cable from the Device-Side Extender to the USB port of the camera
- Connect a USB-C or USB‐A to USB‐C Cable from the Host-Side Extender to your computer
- Connect the power adapter from the Host-Side Extender to the wall outlet
- The status LED will flash when the computer is turned on and the extension link is established successfully
Troubleshooting
Host Side LED Indicator
- LED Off – Indicates there is no power to the Extender. Verify the USB cable is properly connected from the computer to the Host Side Extender.
- LED On – Indicates the extender has proper power but there is no data link established. Verify the category cable is properly connected.
- Blinking LED – Indicates the link is up and working properly.
Device Side LED Indicator
- LED Off – Indicates there is no power supplied to the Device Side Extender. Verify that the 48V power supply is connected to the Host Side Extender and that the category cable is properly connected.
- LED On – Indicates the extender has proper power but there is no data link established. Verify that the USB Cable from the Computer is properly connected to the Host Side Extender and that the category cable is properly connected.
- Blinking LED – Indicates the link is up and working.
